Currently, Ohio University logo plates are available only in Ohio.
If you live outside of Ohio, add an OU decal to your car. License plate
frames are in the works!
The Ohio University license plate is a special plate.
Special Plates are any license plate manufactured especially for the
customer. Logo plates are special plates, and are for customers who
wish to support a particular college, environmental or other special
interest group. Additional annual fees for special plates can range
from $10 to $70.
The Ohio University license plate requires an additional $35 fee.
This special plate fee is charged annually. The extra fees for the
collegiate license plate goes toward the scholarship fund of Ohio
University.
You may at any time go back to a standard issued license plate, however, you will not receive a refund of the fees paid.
How to purchase the Ohio University special plate.
Requests for special plates may be made at any deputy registrar's
office, by mail, by calling 1-800-589-TAGS (800-589-8247) or online at www.oplates.com.
Deputy Registrars: Requests for special plates can be made at
any deputy registrar's office. Many Special Interest, Disability,
Amateur Radio, Military and Collegiate Plates are also available at the
deputy registrar. All other special plates may be paid for at a deputy
registrar's office and will then be mailed to the customer. The deputy
will give the customer a permit which allows them to operate their
vehicle while the plates are being manufactured.
By Mail: Request forms are available at any deputy registrar's
office. The customer may complete a form and send it with special
documents to the address listed on the form. The customer's choice (if
available) will be assigned and an application will be mailed within 5
days. The customer needs to mail the application, fees and any required
document(s) to the address on the application. Special plates will be
mailed to the customer to the address shown on the application

You may use this option for renewals, exchanges or checking special
plates availability only. If you have a new vehicle that has never been
plated, you must go to your local deputy registrars office.
